Some Tips On Roof Gutter Cleaning

Cleaning your gutters is something that is a little bit more important than people might suspect. By failing to do this when they become clogged up you may run into problems such as damage to the roof all the walls. It is, therefore, crucial that you make sure your gutters are clean at all times and when you do this there are certain things you should remember. As such, here are some tips on roof gutter cleaning.

The first thing you have to to think about will be your safety when you go and do it. If you are choosing to clean your gutters yourself and are not hiring a professional to do the job, you have to make sure that you have the relevant equipment to get the job done. This will include getting a ladder that is of sufficient height and stability to get you to the gutters and keep you in place.

Failing to have a proper ladder can result in serious injury or even death if you were to fall and have a significant impact with the floor. As such, when you place your ladder make sure that the base is placed on a surface that is secure and sturdy and that the angle of the ladder is such that for every 3 feet of height, you have 1 foot of distance from the wall. In addition, it is always a good idea to make sure that you have someone spotting you at the bottom of the ladder and holding it in place.

When you climb the ladder you also have to make sure that you have both hands free and that any equipment you are bringing to the top of the ladder is not getting in the way. You should therefore make sure you have a belt or where you can hold all of your items so that you can climb with ease. When you are standing towards the top of the ladder and cleaning out the gutter you should also be aware that it is important to always have three points of contact with the ladder when you are on it. Usually this will mean having to feed and one hand on the ladder to keep you secure.

The other hand, of course, can be used in order to actually clear the gutter, and the way in which you should clean it is rather self-explanatory. You should focus on getting rid of any leaves, twigs, and mud or dirt that has built up along the gutters.

Once you have removed this then it will be a good idea to also get a hose and clear out the rest of the gutter using this. You should also look to run the hose down any pipes in order to clear out any blockages that might have appeared. Once you gutter is clean, come back to it and check on it after a couple of months to make sure it has remained clean.
