Gutter Cleaning Can Be Fun
Gutter cleaning can be fun. There is no need to make such a long face. You know it has to be done. It is a once or twice a year chore. You know that you may find some terrible yucky and unmentionable things in there, too. Instead of fretting and worrying, try making it a fun experience. Here are some suggestions.
Are you going to work from ground level or up on the roof? If you are up on the roof, you will not be seen by your significant other. This will give you a chance for a long break, whenever you wish. While up there, you can take the time to think. You will be by yourself with no one to answer to. Maybe you can meditate. Perhaps you will contemplate the vastness of the universe.
Here is another suggestion. Bring a small television with you. You may get some uninterrupted TV time. Who knows you may like it up there. It may be a good place to have a den or study.
Of course, you will eventually have to do something about those things on the end of the roof. You know, the things that are full of leaves and who knows what. Make sure that you have gloves with you. Buy some good gloves. You have no idea what you may be touching. Also, consider some small tools like scrapers.
You may consider a wet/dry shop vacuum too. This may save you a lot of time and energy. A garden hose is another time saver. Make sure that it has a good nozzle type sprayer. You see, it is not so bad. You get to play with some of your tools and be alone for awhile. This may turn out to be a rather nice time.
While you are cleaning, look for leaks. These often appear in the seams. You can fix these with a good silicone based caulk usually. You probably would not have noticed the leaks, unless you were cleaning.
This job does not require a great deal of skill. It does not take a high degree of intelligence. It should not be too time consuming. It may be high on the muck scale, due to the unspeakable things that you may encounter. But as long as you do not get too close to the edge, all should be fine.
Summary
Gutter cleaning does not have to be a chore. If you approach it right, it may even be fun. Try to be creative with your techniques. Be safe with the ladder and while walking on the roof. Take your time and use whatever tools are available.
